Director: Avis Richards | Producer: Avis Richards
Focus Years: 2010 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
In New York City, it can be hard to find the space to be active. But that doesn't stop the millions of people who constantly find creative ways to stay fit. Join us as we look at all the organized sports you can watch and join in the city’s parks. From common sports such as soccer and baseball, to the less common pétanque, and even games created by New Yorkers themselves like Circle Rules Football, we get to see the Imagination Playground, with loose parts for children to build and play with. And we learn about Staten Island’s future Freshkills Park, which will be three times the size of Central Park! Featuring green fields, bike lanes, a golf course and horseback riding, this former landfill is just one of the many outdoor venues New Yorkers will continue to have access to. This episode of “LunchNYC†showcases the best of the best when it comes to getting physical in the Big Apple.
