Synopsis:
On 12 December 2006, in Machado - in the area of the higher Tapajos river, of the state of Parà, Brazil - hundreds of inhabitants of the Mangabal region reached the capital to participate in a “consulta pùblica” for the creation of the extractive reserve (resex) Montanha Mangabal. This documentary shows the preparation and then the progress of the meeting in which the reserve creation had to be approved. It captures the hopes and fears, but also the determination of the people living in the area, their history and their everyday lives. Although they may live out of this world in small settlements scattered in a 50-kilometer area around the river, they can still get together and fight for a common goal.
