Synopsis:
Astragalus, in Armenian Gaz, is a plant species recorded in Red Book of Armenia. However, Armenian rural area people - especially herdsmen and Yezidis - burn those flowers and use their stalks as kindling for fire. The film “The Sunset of Astragalus” tries to show that in the Armenian mountains, in areas not reachable for everyone, grows a plant which is very beautiful - especially in its bloom, it seems that the mountains are covered in violet sheet. It is a pity that through regularly burning, we are slowly eradicating a beauty like that which will ultimately result in the extinction of another rare plant in Armenia.
