Synopsis:
Can bicycles rid the cities of car traffic vice (oppression) and smog? It really seems they can, as far as the realities of Ferrara, Amsterdam and Copenaghen are concerned. In these urban centers, one small - one large - and one with 2,000,000 citizens, the queen of the road is the bicycle. Through pictures as well as interviewing cyclists, public directors, representatives of associations for the increase of the bicycle use, this documentary “Bicycles” tries to discover the reasons why the bicycle is a transport mean so common (widespread) in these cities. The last part of the documentary is dedicated to a cyclists’ meeting in Rome - all supporters of critical mass movement, all of whom are riding their bicycles and screaming “we are the traffic” to try to rid the cities of cars.
