Director: José Barahona | Producer: Filmes do Tejo II
Focus Years: 2009 | Country: Portugal
Synopsis:
Dona Ana is preparing a corn salad for her family. The news on the television is contradictory: Some preach the benefits of the new varieties of transgenic corn, others on the contrary invoke the specter of catastrophe heralded by this latest technological advance. Dona Ana is left in doubt about what is and what isn't safe to feed her family. But the story of corn didn't begin here. That story is an integral part of the way our civilizations evolved. Using corn as the main "character", this film tells us about the way technology influences, influenced and will influence the manner and the ways in which we live in societies, past, present and future.
