Synopsis:
“What a Freegan Waste!†is a short documentary film exploring the Freegan movement. The film looks at the beliefs of the Freegan eco-movement and its reaction to waste. Synonymous with food scavenging from the trash, this documentary delves deeper into the alternative lifestyle ideologies - belief that injustices like sweatshops and the destruction of the rainforests that go into producing goods in the first place, which are then needlessly discarded. By highlighting the Western waste, they attempt to shed light on these global issues and the impact that they are having upon the planet. Seen through the eyes of Freegans on both sides of the Atlantic in London and New York, the film questions our current eco trajectory and whether such a movement can tackle these concerns.
