Synopsis:
An Indian holy man is fighting for the survival of his world famous ancient culture. The documentary paints an intimate picture of the extraordinary River Ganges in crisis and the plans that could save it. Mother Ganges is a Goddess of purity, but she has become a river poisoned by sewage. In 3,000-year-old Benares, the most celebrated religious city in India, the bacteria giving waterborne diseases are now hundreds of times above the safe limit. Sewage is even back flowing into the streets! But a fighter has come forward who bridges East and West. He has dedicated his life to saving the “Mother†with a unique campaign. He still takes holy dip each dawn, but knows the threat to his whole culture and has plans for solutions. A festival is being prepared where the god Lord Krishna jumps from a tree to defeat an evil snake that has poisoned the waters.
