Finnish wildlife photographer Benjam Pontinen discovers the hidden world of bats with the help of experts across Finland and Estonia. These enthusiastic, but sometimes eccentric “bat-hunters” allow Benjam to see Europe's shadowy night fliers in a new, more positive light. Benjam's quirky bat quest takes him to vast underground mines, ancient castles and decaying mansion houses. Filming bats proves challenging, uncomfortable, but ultimately truly revelatory. Night cameras yield rare footage of bats rescuing lost pups, and of adults fighting and mating. Those who get to know bats better, soon realize they are nothing like the scary creatures of legend and should be cherished, not cringed at!
