Director: Mrs Susan M GriffithJones | Producer: Mrs Susan M GriffithJones
Focus Years: 2011 | Country: India
Synopsis:
DOC: This film uses artistic and graphic visuals of touch-healing doctor, Dr Mulk Raj Dass, giving treatment to patients at his clinic in Mussoorie, interspersed with diverse landscapes and activities along the banks of the uppermost stretch of River Ganga, from Haridwar to her source at Gaumukh, to explore the many different layers of meaning for ‘healing’. Many meanings of ‘bridge’ are explored as well, from bridges along the river, to that between doctor and patient, and ultimately, the all-important connection between each one of us and our essential source energy. The doctor represents a channel of healing for such energy, whilst the river metaphorically depicts the flow of such, emerging from its source to traverse its path, ultimately seeking the ocean. Vibrating tones of Tibetan singing bowls make up the accompanying tune, chosen according to their technical association with planetary movements that correspond to certain characteristics and moods in the film.
