Synopsis:
Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye (Knowledge is that which liberates) provides a fascinating look inside Ashram Paryavaran Vidyalaya (APV), an ashram and school dedicated to providing a holistic, child-centered education to the local village children of the Indian Himalayas. APV is not only a center of learning, but also a center of personal development and spiritual growth. Meditation has been deeply integrated within the curriculum, the teachers’ shared living community, and school culture.
Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye guides the viewer through a day in the life of the village school; through the lush valleys, splendid mountain peaks of the Himalayas, tranquil villages and fields. It provides a glance into classrooms and assemblies, sits in on peaceful meditation gatherings, and shows boisterous children at play. The film follows the children to their villages to see the rigors of mountain life and visits the ashram to learn more about community living. Through candid interviews with headmaster Anand Dwivedi, APV teachers, and students, one will come to see a more enlightened form of education and way of life.
