When we look at enlightenment in an evolutionary or developmental context, what we become concerned with is action rather than states of consciousness. We become very focused upon and interested in an intentional and deliberate engagement with the developmental process that produces demonstrable and measurable results—actual evolution in real time. So once we have made the decision that we want to be free, which in the context of this teaching is the conscious choice to become identified not less than fifty-one percent with the authentic self or evolutionary impulse, what we care about is that our actions become the expression and manifestation of that authentic self. And in order for that to happen, we have to take responsibility for every dimension of ourselves, conscious and unconscious, that has other motives and other concerns.
