For a few hundred children in Gujarat, the riots of 2002 became the reason for a new beginning. Away from home, away from the loving everyday care of their parents, away from the state that had let them down badly. Uma Sudhir explores the stories of these Muslim families who have sent their children away from home to seek a better future.
