A Different World| 9mins
Director: Anne O'Connell | Producer: Anne O'Connell
Focus Years: 2007 | Country: United Kingdom
Synopsis:
Colin Cook is a senior clerk at London’s Inns of Court, one of the UK’s most venerable institutions. But as a black senior clerk, Colin is highly unusual, standing out in this bastion of tradition and old fashioned ceremonial practice.
In this personal portrait, Colin tells how he faced prejudice as well as his own sense of alienation when he first arrived at the Inns of Court. But he also describes the institution with some affection as we follow him to a prestigious ceremony in the House Of Commons. He also tells us how he found success, and the changes he has seen over nearly 30 years in the business.
