Synopsis:
My Mother's Journey, a 60-minute documentary project, tells the story of the late Elizabeth "Liz" Hampton who traveled from the rural south to become a mother and civic leader in Rochester, New York. This is a unique case study of an African American woman's migration to the north and her challenges and discoveries along the way; her story captures the cultural significance of the south among African Americans moving to the north and its influence on the social changes taking place during 1960-1970 in the communities of upstate New York.
