Director: Devi Prasad Mishra | Producer: Knowledge Links
Focus Years: 2007 | Country: India
Synopsis:
The film is about community led total sanitation (CLTS) and its transforming potential for environment and people. This approach helps people analyze their sanitation situation and realize that they are ingesting each others shit due to rampant open defecation in their area. This often triggers collective local action to end open defecation and improve environment. It draws on the rich experience of Dr. Kamal Kar himself, who is the innovator of the CLTS approach. The basic text of the film is based on CLTS work carried out by Knowledge Links in 9 districts of Himachal Pradesh, India. Some of the video footage in the film is from countries other than India and has been made available to us by Dr. Kamal Kar.
It introduces the concept and approach of CLTS in terms of roles of various actors involved in the process that includes trained CLTS facilitators, community members, natural leaders, women and children and implications for action to be initiated at various levels.
Film has been nominated for award in the environment conservation category of CMS Vatavaran film festival, India. Besides this the film is being shown in several other film festivals across Asia.
