Synopsis:
Idyll Dandy Acres is a radical queer intentional community on over 200 acres of rural Tennessee. The residents and guests build houses, farm vegetables, nurture community, and cobble together a culture guided by principles of personal autonomy and sustainability. They provide a space that anybody drawn to queer culture to experience rural living in an environment that encourages us to step outside of society at large and celebrate our uniqueness.
Situated in the heart of the bible belt, the area's extended 'gayborhood' was started by gay males in the '80s. Since then, people of all genders and sexualities have moved to the area, enacting change by modeling a lifestyle. Their quiet activism potently illustrates that example can be more powerful than ideology.
