About Lala Openi:
Through documentary film making, spoken word, motion graphics shorts, murals and painting, digital illustration, identity and visual design, I strive to do right by the stories that call to be told, heard, and shared.

Specializing in future media art and design for projects focused on community growth and empowerment — I put the FUNK in funktion. Future reaches beyond the “New” in media and looks to create socially responsible art which will remain relevant as a tool for social change in the age of temporality. Through film, motion graphics, identity branding, print design and project development, I work to bring visual representation to the voice of the people I work and build with. As a member of the global community I feel that attending to responsibility to my people is invaluable to my growth and happiness as an artist, designer, and human being.

Synopsis:
Casual conversation with truth-seeking multidisciplinary young creatives, captured and woven into a discussion about trans-generational knowledge, consciousness, and love, as well as how to navigate within a world where a rat-race mentality prevails. This experimental mixtape-documentary is the fruition of the journey of the Veuxdo Child as they find themselves on a path sprinkled with evidence of the mind of the Creator, and a collective consciousness. Filmed by the Veuxdo Child around the San Francisco Oakland Bay Area and New York City; the performances, footage, and conversations were shot sporadically during 2008 through 2013. Interviewees include Queens D. Light, Duckwrth, Auk Power, Revers, Kool Kid Kreyola, Zumbi, Amp Live, Amo, Josh Farria, Simone Davis, and Demi Arianna.
