Synopsis:
Every year during the months from October to December, the olive groves become a field of contention between Israeli settlers and Palestinian farmers. It is the olive harvest season that is the season of conflict in the villages dotting the countryside of the West Bank.
This is a story of two women, set against the backdrop of the olive harvest season. They are powerful, resourceful, courageous, and Jewish. Jamila devotes all of her free time to help the Palestinian olive harvesters. Ronit, a settler, dedicates her life to the protection and nourishment of her husband’s life-dream: the expansion of the Jewish hold on the biblical land by means of planting olive trees.
The film does not presume to serve as an intermediator or judge in this conflict. The film’s purpose is to show that there are human stories on both sides, that there is more than one way to perceive people and reality, but most of all, it shows our inner need to live with a belief in our monopoly over the truth, a need that might be the most dangerous human fault.
