On March 3, 1986, at the height of apartheid's death squads, seven young men are killed in an ambush by police in the suburb of Guguletu in Cape Town, South Africa. Police say these men were ‘terrorists’, that they were so heavily armed that arrest was impossible, that they had no option but to kill them. A witness, however, saw that one of the men who was shot had his hands up in the act of surrendering. This fact led to the extraordinary unraveling of the real truth ten years later by investigators of the new democratic government's Truth & Reconciliation Commission.
