Ghana's Roosting Bird| 3mins
Director: Miriam Rowe & Jemma Gander | Producer: Miriam Rowe & Jemma Gander
Focus Years: 2007 | Country: United Kingdom
Synopsis:
The film highlights the plight of rice farmers in Ghana who struggle to compete against cheap imported rice from subsidised farmers in America. Ghana's farmers tell their own story in this film. They show the mountains of rice that they are unable to sell, wasting away in store sheds while many Ghanaians go hungry. It highlights the truth that poverty in Africa is less about a lack of resources and more about an unfair distribution of resources.
