Synopsis:
In 2006, dissident teachers and other members of the community formed the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca (APPO), among the objectives of which was to force the then state governor to stand down. After months of protests, the movement was repressed by the armed forces. A child of 10, who had joined the movement without being very clear on its objectives or ideals, faced this violence. Now 17, his perception of the status quo and social structures has changed radically. This episode in his life made him realize that he inhabits a world in which violence is the order of the day, and he can no longer believe in institutions. Volver a los 17 is the portrait of a young man's subversive voice and the way in which he makes it be heard.
