Tulare the Phantom Lake| 22mins
Director: Christopher Beaver | Producer: Christopher Beaver
Focus Years: 2014 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
California is now in the fourth year of the worst drought in its history. Tulare the Phantom Lake provides an introduction to the people and land of California's Central Valley, known as the breadbasket of America, if not the world. The film takes its name from what was once the largest lake in North America west of the Mississippi River, a now-vanished phantom lake whose waters were completely drained to produce more land for agriculture. In an age of global warming, as California's great natural reservoir of Sierra Nevada Mountains snow fails, one possible solution may be to bring back at least part of the lake. Join us as we walk the landscape of the Tulare with people who know and love California's Central Valley.
