Focus Years: 2010 | Country: United Kingdom
Synopsis:
"The Other Side of Carnival" is a 45-minute documentary that looks at the origins of Carnival and the ways the event impacts the social and economic aspects of Trinidad & Tobago.
Interviews with over 60 people, economists, historians, nurses, police officers, students, owners of businesses and revelers, build a picture of what locals say are the positive and negative effects of the event on their country.
Consummating over two years of research and interviews and with the coordination of a multinational crew (Trinidad & Tobago, U.S. and U.K.), "The Other Side of Carnival" does not pass judgment on Carnival in Trinidad & Tobago, but aims to raise awareness on the type of influence that Carnival has on the population.
