Synopsis:
After a lifetime of working in the factories of Germany, the women of Patagi return to their homeland in Northern Greece in order to enjoy relative prosperity, but also to endure acute loneliness far from their children. The film focuses on three women and how they overcome their sadness and boredom, by taking up dancing and singing. Encouraged by a patient young dance instructor, they decide to organize a traditional dance show, hoping to publicize their particular cultural heritage and in this way put their village back on the map. Their place in the dance circle however, entails such symbolic and social importance that it even creates unforeseen situations and turns them and the village upside down before overcoming this and showing the power of traditional dress, music, and dance.
