The film aims to raise awareness on sustainably managed forests and conservation of habitats in Germany. Forests in Germany are diverse and in harmony with nature, a mosaic of varying habitats. Healthy forests act as habitats for plants and animals, store fresh water and have a balancing effect on the climate. They also provide jobs in rural regions and timber as a renewable resource. And they are open to everyone to enjoy recreation, sport and nature. The film “Forests For People†is a German contribution to the International Year of Forests 2011. The film is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
